Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic skin condition where painful lumps or abscesses form under the skin, typically in areas where skin rubs together (like the armpits, groin, or buttocks). It occurs when hair follicles or sweat glands become blocked and inflamed, leading to lumps, tunnels (fistulas), and scars. These Lumps can break open and drain pus, often causing pain and an unpleasant smell.
